Yes, you can update the source text even when there are still pending orders.
But please be noted that if you remove a string that is included in your order, you will NOT be able to receive the translation for that particular string.
Here is what will happen if you upload a new file to your project when there are still pending orders:
- If you remove any source phrases, you will NOT be able to receive the translations for those removed phrases.
- If you modify any source phrases, you will still get back the translations for those phrases but the translations will be automatically marked as outdated.
- If you just add some new source phrases, your orders in progress will not be affected.
After the import, you will have to place a new order to get 2 and 3 (i.e. new and updated strings) translated.
Example
For example, let's say your existing order contains string A, B, and C. In your updated file, you removed string A and updated string B.
Existing order
Updated file
Since you have removed String_A, you will not be able to get back the translation for this particular phrase.
Although you have modified String_B, unless you place a new order after the import, the translation you will get will still be based on the old source text (i.e. "Banana"). In this case, our system will mark the translation of string B as outdated (as shown below) when the translation is pushed back to your platform and you’d have to place a new order* to translate the updated string B (i.e. "Boy").
For string C, as it's not updated, nothing will be affected.
* When you place the new order, our system will automatically include the new and updated strings only.

Thus, we will count a placeholder as one word to compensate the effort of translators to take care of them.
Same concept applies to HTML tags or any words or numbers that need not to be translated https://9apps.ooo/download/ .
