For some technical files (e.g. .strings, .xml), you will have two main types of files:
- Base language file: there is only one.
- Translation file: there can be many, one for each translated language.
The base language file is usually generated through your internationalization process. If you are unfamiliar with internationalization, visit our Academy for tips and tutorials.
If you have localized your app before, you will already have a base language file and existing translation files. In order to use the OneSky, you must upload your base language file.
After your base language file is uploaded to your project, you can then upload your existing translation files. By using your existing translations, you can reduce cost and avoid re-translating your app into languages you have already translated.
If you have not localized your app before, you will NOT have existing translation files.
After the base language phrases are in your project, and you have translated them (either through your own translators or our professional translators), you can download OneSky-generated translation files.
There will be slight syntax differences between the OneSky-generated translation files and your existing translation files. However, you should be able to use them interchangeably on our platform and in your app.
Note: You will not have issues uploading a OneSky-generated translation file into another project, or even the same project.

You can upload existing translations the same way you upload your base language files. Our system will match your translation phrases.
